My ancestor is Abraham. Yeah, that Abraham who lived 4000 years ago. I am pretty sure you know some of his story as it is told in the first part of the Bible, Genesis chapters 11-25.
Abraham says:
וַיְהִ֞י כַּאֲשֶׁ֧ר הִתְע֣וּ אֹתִ֗י אֱלֹהִים֮ מִבֵּ֣ית אָבִי֒
And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father’s house . . . .
Genesis 20:13 – The Koren Jerusalem Bible
He identifies himself as the first in a long line of “wanderers” through life, listening for the voice of God. You know us variously as Hebrews; children of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; children of Israel; people of Judah — or just “Jews.”
We all have our own stories to tell as God has caused us to wander through life.
This is my story.
